Ashmo's, a charming seafood gem located in Sitka, Alaska, has swiftly captured the hearts (and appetites) of its patrons. Known for its delightful fish and chips, many reviews celebrate this signature dish for its crispy coating that enhances the tender fish inside. The use of beer in the batter allows for a unique flavor that elevates the overall experience. Customer Ko S. highlights their experience, noting that every fry retained its crispiness, a rarity in casual dining.
Ashmo's also impresses with its Black Cod Tips, which are frequently mentioned by diners as a must-try. Their juiciness and flavor resonate with those who enjoy fresh seafood. The pairing of coconut rice with the cod tips evokes a vibrant culinary fusion that has delighted many, taking them back to familiar Thai flavors, as noted by another satisfied customer.
The atmosphere remains casual, with some diners wishing for more seating options, but the quality of the food overshadows this minor concern. Overall, Ashmo's is celebrated for its reasonable prices and speedy service, making it a perfect stop for a savory bite after exploring the beautiful surroundings of Sitka. Whether indulging in fish tacos, salmon mac and cheese, or simply savoring the ambiance, Ashmo's has positioned itself as a must-visit seafood destination.

The fish and chips are the best we ever had and the fish tacos were very good too. I just wish they had a few tables and chairs by the food truck.

Our bus driver off the cruise ship recommended this place as a reasonably priced place to grab a small bite. She was 100% spot on. The fish and chips were crispy as all hell while the rock fish super tender inside. This is honestly the first time I've ever actually tasted beer in beer battered fish and chips. The chips/fries were fried nice and crispy. In fact, I didnt have even one soggy fry which is awesome. THE COD FISH TIPS WERE FREAKING SLAMMING!!. I wish they sold a larger portion for a higher price so I didn't have to order two. Cod fish tips are similar to fish cheeks, but instead come from closer to the neck portion. It's super juicy and tender and goes perfectly with the house made teriyaki sauce. The coconut and cilantro rice took me back to my Thai roots and was balanced perfectly with the cod tips. I couldn't get enough and have never had anything like it before. Definitely stop in for one of each if not double of both!

Delicious food all around — we had the fish and chips, salmon mac and cheese, and coconut rice with fish tips. Everything was flavorful, served quickly, and reasonably priced.

Everything was delicious! Didn’t get a pic of the Black Cod Tips, but everyone in our group was obsessed!

Fantastically fresh and delectably prepared. If you see it, don’t think twice or they might sell out of the dish you’re eying. We snagged their last piece of King Salmon which was their special, and everything else we saw folks eating looked amazing, especially the fish & chips. Friendly & polite service, too.

King Salmon from this food truck is a MUST. They don’t do anything too fancy beside grilling it, put it on a bed of rice and pour fresh pesto on top of it, but the salmon was soooo delectable. Also try their lingcod sandwich too!

I've had fried fish many places that are famous for it, and I kid you not, I think this is the best I've ever had. Or at least right up there with any other contender. Absolutely delicious fish and chips. The mac and cheese (I think it had lobster?) was also very good, but the beer battered rockfish fish and chips will absolutely blow you away. If you're visiting Sitka from a cruise ship, do yourself a favor and stop at this food truck for a bite to eat. Worth standing around outside no matter the cold and rain.
